Mohon Bebas Zat Perekat ~ Gluten Free Please

Ok so this has not been an easy thing to translate however hopefully my friends and I have done it. I am regularly asked about gluten free suggestions for eating in Bali, I have compiled a few ideas however I am sure there are so many options available for you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how many places now have GF on the menu or if you discuss with the chef and the staff they can make some adjustments or perhaps even bring you out a special menu at some places. One tip is also to ask the chef to swap soy ( kechap aisin / manis ) soy sauce for fish sauce, and stick to fruit, veggies, etc and you should be fairly safe.

Here is a translation which you can copy/print out and take with you which may also assist.

English – I have been diagnosed with a medical Coeliac disease and I must eat a strict gluten free diet. I can not eat food that contains wheat, rye, barley or oats, such as pasta, couscous, breadcrumbs, batter, bread, pastry, cakes, biscuits or noodles unless they are specifically made using gluten free flours, please check the ingredients for processed meats, soups, sauces, gravies, dressings and custards. I can eat a variety of foods including unprocessed meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, dairy products, rice, corn (maize), polenta, lentils, soy and potato. If you have any questions when preparing my meal please ask me. Thank you.

Indonesian – Saya telah didiagnosa medis sebagai pengidap penyakit Coeliac dan harus makan makanan yan seratus persen bebas gluten.

  1. hi thanks for help i 2 am celiac, but i have found that eating bali food i am ok . i live in bali so have had 2 change my way of eating, the places you say to eat are expensive when u live here. In eurupe they have to say on the packet if gluten free, when u go shopping wish they did that in indonesia. x

    • Hello Christine, I am not a coelic however many of my fans asked me for some recommendations, my blog is mainly intended for holiday makers in Bali, and I have done my best, in the list are some shops as well as cafes and restaurants for breads etc and i have tried to provde a range of locations and budgets in mind. x

  2. i see you haven’t mention the delicious restaurant i’ve tried yesterday night (special event : raw food dinner) : Samadi Bali.
It’s in canggu, it’s also a great yoga place, they serve breakfast and lunch everyday + dinner on wednesday and friday. the place is amazing, you should check it out! (vegetarian, gluten free etc etc)

  3. Hi,

I am being my two young children over to Bali in May. Both are gluten intolerant and one has a dairy allergy. We are staying in Tangung Benoa. Are there any recommendations for that side of the island? Also can you recommend and food that I should bring myself or any dishes that would be allergy friendly for them?
