La Laguna has finally opened after being careful planned, created and built in the somewhat secret location between Jl Batu Belig and Jl Pantai Berawa. From the talented creative team which has brought you La Plancha and La Favela. To get there is a tricky as its down a little dirt track just after La Finca, heading towards the beach. If your on the beach its south of the LV8 Resort. This place is quickly becoming popular with expats and tourists alike when they can find it. With an excellent, well priced cocktail menu and tasty tapas menu, set amongst gypsey caravans and bohemian cushions. Even the toilets are uber cool ! My fave is the La Laguna Breeze cocktail and another great choice is the espresso martini. Cocktails from 120 00 Rup this place has been added to the Little Miss Bali App in the Cocktail Spot Section. Watch out for the Spansih Dancing horses, strutting peacocks and feisty Geese !
Triette Store is a tiny bit of shopping heaven with the prettiest home wares, jewellery and baby clothes you really need to pop on up and have a browse. I brought the cutest batik shopping bag and resin Koi candle holder and could have done some serious credit card damage. Oh but *sigh* if I only had a baby girl they have the sweetest little girl jewellery, which reminded me of when my Opa and Oma would return from Holland with the daintiest silver jewellery for me which was very similar. Whilst checking out the rest of the little gems on the best street in Bali you need to add this one to your list. It is just near Coco and Ginger, Bathe and Bambuku on Jl Batu Belig which is about 10 minutes from seminyak at the end of Petitenget turn towards the beach ( left and follow it down to the beach.
This is a cute cosy boutique hotel, which has spacious rooms and is in a great area. The room I looked at also had the most amazing copper bath and views of the rice field. Although not for sun lovers as the pool is in the shade, it would be great for a short stay on the Island of the Gods. See the website for rates and more details.
This Villa is one of my favourites, it is new, beautifully furnished, a great size and an awesome price. Located in Gang Daksini in Batu Belig, it is close to some new great places including Watercress, Slippery Stone, Naughty Nuris, Think Pink Nail Salon and just a short drive from Bungalow Living in Berawa or the Petitenget area. They have 2 or 3 bedroom villas, a decent size pool and luxurious baths. I think you will be really surprised at the price too. For more details email Justin and Emily http://balisoulvillas.com/
I must share my excitement of a meal we had the other night. Anticipating the opening of Mozaic Beach Club Batu Belig, we had waited a few weeks for it to settle in. With very high hopes it did deliver. We booked early enough to appreciate the sunset over the ocean and from the fine dining decking it was perfect. Ordering a berry / rose sparkling cocktail to start followed two complimentary tasters. First featuring truffles the second with tuna tartare, Mozaic had me hook, line and sinker. I ordered my scallops as per usual and they were absolutely sublime perfectly cooked and with a beautiful presentation. A suitable amount of time passed before the arrival of my main. A spatchcock dish again tender, moist, perfect. I Loved it and there was heaps on the plate, too much for me. A small baby leaf salad with mustard dressing was the perfect compliment with the meal. Allowing time to rest after the mains I ordered the chocolate fondant and it was well worth the wait. A delectable balance of cake to lava ratio, combined with ice cream and enjoyed to the very last bite. All this was washed down by a beautiful Velvety Merlot. Whilst not being totally sold on the downstairs poolside area or even the decor of the upstairs decor. We were totally impressed by the food and service and will be returning frequently!
