I finally got to The Shady Shack Bali, in Canggu and I am in LOVE. This breezy, vegetarian, health food café overlooks the rice fields in Canggu and serves up some really delicious options. The obligatory Bali dog was relaxing in the doorway and I was hanging out for a smoothie bowl so that was my choice and this one was packed full of flavour and fruit. I had already had a couple of coffee’s that day enjoyed the cutest Matcha Latte with the bear face smiling back at me. A beautiful tropical little paradise to escape to with shady veranda or garden seating options to enjoy. I can highly recommend this place. It’s on the little street just behind Deus in Canggu.
The Bukit Cafe Bali is a welcomed addition to the chilled out Uluwatu scene, one of my absolutely favourite places to hang out in Bali. Serving up healthy and delicious meals, juices and coffees, we were really impressed with this place. I have to admit I was totally sucked in by an Instagram photo of a hot guy with abs enjoying a Pitaya and Banana Smoothie Bowl here only to discover it wasn’t actually on the menu. However when I showed them what I had been day dreaming about ( hahaha the smoothie Bowl of course) they whipped one up for us to enjoy and hopefully its on the menu really soon. We have been back a few times as the boys are tots addicted to the Hot Chocolate Lava cake YUM YUM YUM ! We can highly recommend this place if your up this way. Now added to the Breakfast and Brunch section of the Little Miss Bali App.
Its too easy to get comfortable in Bali and return to your much loved spots. I almost had to drag a girlfriend out here to expand her repertoire faves. Located on Jl Pantai Berawa ( about 10 minutes north of Seminyak, and close proximity to Bermain and Bungalow Living so perfect for a little shopping when your up this way). Milk & Madu is a breezy spacious café to enjoy some delicious food and Revolver coffee. Grab some magazines, log into the wifi and chill out on the spacious, comfy lounge areas or join the communal table and strike up a convo with a stranger. Word on the street is they are building a gorgeous play ground area in the near future and they do have a great kids menu and a box of toys and heaps of space if your taking little ones ( however no high chairs as yet ). The menu is so delicious I had to try both a sweet and savoury option hahaha ( yes we had been for a uber long and sweaty beach walk that morning so had earn’t it). I think its worth the drive and if you are in the hood, def pop in and check it out. A new fave to add to the list. Milk & Madu is open Tuesday – Sunday 7am – 5pm.
The traditional markets, dotted all over the island, are always an adventure as well as a total overload on your senses including smells, tastes, sights, sounds and touch. Not for the faint hearted or slightly precious as the dried fish can be really pungent when combined with extreme heat of the day, a waft of body odour, getting lost in the guts of the 3rd floor can be a little nightmarish ( especially if your a as pale as I am) and whatever you do , DONT go to the toilet. Apart from all that some amazing bargains to be found even when they add a little foreigner tax on top, trinkets, fans, home wares, fruit, flowers, balloons, and all kinds of weird stuff, a true experience to behold.
The coolest tree house in town will be sure to become one of your new favourite spots to hang, catch the breeze and graze on scrumptious wholesome food. Just off the busy street of Jl Basangkasa, nestled in behind the Queens Tandoor, and backing onto the old soccer field, Shelter Bali is now open for business. Serving a blend of delicious international cuisine, fresh juices and good coffee. Open between 9 – 4 and kid friendly with high chairs. Just pondering if to add it to my App under Breakfast and Brunch spots or Cheap and Cheerful categories. Friend Request them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/shelter.bali?fref=ts
Born out of the need for seriously good coffee, Grocer and Grind has been delivering quality service, coffee and food for over 7 years. The Seminyak flagship store is popular spot of mine for a glass of red and its sensational meals all day long. Particularly when my boys were smaller as it is one of the first places to open in the morning and they love to feed the huge fish at the entrance. It was awesome when they opened a café on the Bukit, it just makes the all day surf trips more tolerable with a coffee in my belly. Most recently making a welcome glamorous addition to the scene in Sanur, long term holiday makers who prefer that side of the island, welcomed the fresh ground and expertly created coffee and bite to eat. Grocer and Gring has just opened its doors next to the hugely anticipated Sea Sentosa in Echo Beach. I know some of you will be incredibly nostalgic like me about the area and will reminisce about when it was just s tiny shack on the beach with an incredibly awful toilet. Yep the area has evolved and as long as its as classy and quality like this place who am I to stand in the way of development. Enjoy the cool air con inside or breezy outside option, with superfast free wifi and some tasty offerings on the menu, check it out if your in the area x
Bambu Restaurant, Bali is quickly becoming one of the new must try restaurants in Bali. Brought to you by the highly successful team which created La Lucciola, Bambu is delivering a high quality Indonesian cuisine with a modern twist . Hidden unassumingly behind a high private wall you could easily pass this little gem by however this tranquil little water paradise has the most exquisite food on offer. The décor is traditional but modern. The vibe is relaxed and you have the choice to be seated by the bar for a drink or dine at a table for your meal. Due to the depth and amount of water it is safe to presume its not one for the kiddlett’s. The staff are dressed in traditional sarongs and are extremely knowledgeable of the menu and the areas of Indonesia the food has originated. Any of you who have travelled to Bali will be well accustomed to the cultural politeness of the locals inquiring where you are from, your marital status , how many children you have an your intentions and length of stay in Bali and the staff at Bambu carry this traditional on. The food was presented beautifully with the Street Style Pancakes being a top choice. Add it to your List Bali Travellers or just download the Little Miss Bali App as this one is being added to the Fine Dining Section xxx Jln Petitenget No 198, Seminyak +62 361 8469797
and so Barbacoa is exactly why so many people have come to LOVE Bali, although evolving from their nostalgic younger days ( which you can still find around Sanur and Legian). Bali can be a total gastronomic adventure, catering to even the fussiest of foodies. Don’t get me wrong I love the street food, however occasionally its really nice to step it up and see how the other half live at a fraction of the price you would spend in Australia ( and other countries for that matter). Barbacoa opened a couple of months back and is proving itself to being an awesome place for great food, ambient atmosphere and sensational drinks. The babi guling is extremely popular and the squid is amazing, I have added it to the ‘Fine Dining’ section of my App, only as its a little fancier than other options ( you should wear a shirt and some shoes) and up there in price for Bali, however still totally reasonable. Definitely put on your must do list.

While we were exploring Lombok, the Qunci Villa and Resort was the place I wanted to stay but it was booked out. However we went up for Happy hour and dinner. It is a beautiful place to stay, and very popular. Some great deals to be got online shop around. Located approximately 10 minutes drive from the central part of Senggigi and on the coastline, it would be a perfect place to relax for a few days and to set of the explore the Gilis and more of Lombok. Its about a 25 minute drive from where the speed boats are to get to the Gilis. The beach out the front was a little rough and some guys were trying to surf ( its wasn’t good) The Quar restaurant had impeccable service, quality food and the freshest cocktails. A beautiful place to enjoy a sunset. I inquired about a massage as I was really struggling to find a place in central Senggigi however it was approx. 500 000 Rupiah. I noted heaps of couples with smaller babies and children so it is somewhat child friendly I also noted 1 couple with a nanny ( I think they may have brought her with them or booked through the hotel) . I would definitely look this place it if you a planning to head to Lombok. For more details head to their website http://www.quncivillas.com/
