5 reasons why Seminyak Villas are so popular with Australians

There is nothing new about Australians travelling to bali for their holidays, but what is new is their preference for Villas over hotels when it comes to their accommodation. This trend is on the increase and is increasing by about 5-10 % year on year.

The reasons for the rise in the popularity of villa accommodation, especially in very popular tourist hot spots like Seminyak are many but following are five of the main reasons why most Australian families, couples and groups gravitate towards villas.
# 1: Villas offer a level of privacy that your simply can’t get at hotels. Forget about sharing the pool with other people or having to queue up at the breakfast buffet bar with the rest of the herd. Villa living is all about maintaining a level of privacy where you are the centre of attention and not hordes of other guests.
# 2: If you are renting a 3 or 4 bedroom villa and you are coming with another family or with a group of friends, it tends to work out so much cheaper if you were to compare apples with apples. Most luxury villas in Seminyak are around the $500 per night mark and if you spread the cost over 5 people it works out to be $100 per nigh each. This is really good value and works out to be more economical than an equivalent hotel.
# 3: Nearly all villas come with their own staff of house keepers, chefs, butlers, security and even drivers. This means you do not have to lift a finger; everything is done for you. You certainly don’t get this level of service or attention in a hotel – unless you were paying some serious dollars.
# 4: Villas are mostly child friendly and come fully equipped with high chairs, cots, pool fences as well as nannies. This makes it a lot easier for parents who stress out about travelling with toddlers. Everything you could possible want for children are stock standard in most villas and if they don’t have it, then generally they can be organised for you before you arrive.
# 5: The area of Seminyak is the tourist hot spot in Bali. It’s known world wide for it’s fabulous bars, restaurants, cafes as well as day spas and shops. This is why so many holiday makers choose the areas of Seminyak, Petitenget, Oberoi all the way up to Legian as their preferred location. Staying a villa here means that you do not have to travel far for dinner or enjoying some of the nightlife and restaurants. Essentially, Seminyak is just the place to be and be seen. So if you have your villa here it is extremely handy.
So, make sure next time your thinking about a holiday in bali take a look at our range of Villas in Seminyak. There are so many to choose from and they all priced to appeal to all budgets and tastes. all we can say is that if you stay in a villa the chances of you ever staying in a hotel again are remote.

Location by location, popular tourist spots in Bali.

Hey Bali Lovers, I get loads of private messages every day asking for advice and information about holidays tips to which I have an automated response pointing people to my app for most queries ( apologies as for years I have tried to provide personalised responses and just couldn’t keep up with the queries any longer). However a reoccurring theme regarding which area of Bali to stay in is repeated of late. So my little run down of popular locations includes: Kuta – head to Kuta if you are keen for market shopping, enjoy partying and socialising which includes loads of alcohol consumption, have your wits and common sense about you regarding personal safety and crime, enjoy shopping for all the International Brands at larger Shopping malls, love to socialise with the locals at the beach bars and are looking for larger hotels with all the mod cons or also ‘old school’ smaller Bali home stays for budget travellers. A plus side to Kuta is the close proximity to Waterbom Park and the Baby Turtle Sanctuary.

Legian – Legian is not too far from the airport and is great again for market style shopping, some boutiques and nice casual dining options and is somewhat close to Waterbom Park. It is a softer option for the party crowd with several sports bars dotted around and is great if you enjoy casual sunset drinks on the beach. Legian is popular for budget and luxe travellers with a range of hotels to suit all travellers and sits beautifully in between Seminyak and Kuta. Families enjoy Legian due to having many popular beach side eateries great when travelling with kids.

Seminyak- Seminyak is a definitely more upmarket and has considerably more boutiques and only small pockets of Market style shopping. The cafes, dining options and Bars are definitely more upmarket and fashionable and the style of accommodation is also more mid priced to luxury with a large blend of resorts and luxury villas available.

Umalas/ Batu Belig / Berawa – are beautiful areas which are quickly becoming built up, yet have smaller style hotels with a blend of Villas as well. There are no market stalls or large shopping malls, however there are some excellent cafes and restaurants and some boutiques and they are much quieter than perhaps Seminyak, Legian and Kuta. These areas are great if your keen to explore both Seminyak and Canggu.

Canggu – Canggu has become incredibly popular in recent years and attracts a lot of families and younger people. There are some great, cafes and smaller bars which have popped up and a small amount of boutiques. There aren’t any market stalls, shopping malls etc but there is awesome surf. Splash water park + Bounce and Strike Bowling Alley are big draw cards for families.

Balian and Medewi- are fantastic little get away locations with no shopping, no sports bars, no night clubs. Casual budget accommodation and dining options are abundant and great surf and beautiful scenery is why people come here.

Candidasa – A beautiful village vibe with small casual dining options. No shopping, nor night clubs and there are a few larger exclusive resorts but mainly smaller home stays and budget resorts.

Sanur – still has that old school, quiet Bali vibe with budget and luxury accommodation, calmer beaches than other locations, so it’s good for those with small children. Sanur has some market shopping, yet no boutiques or large scale shopping malls and has some lovely casual eateries and is a very popular location for retirees.

Nusa Dua- Has some of the islands most beautiful beaches and is mostly large scale upmarket resorts. There is one large shopping Centre although it has manly local crafts for sale and a food Hall type of thing. So not an area for much shopping or dining out other than what the resorts have on offer. Popular for Golf enthusiasts, families which like resorts which offer everything and those with higher budgets.

Balangan – is a stunning beachside location and is mainly for surfers or those wanting to relax with very casual, local style eating options and boutique or very casual budget accommodation. It’s a favourite of mine as I enjoy the coastal tranquility.

Bingin/ Padang Padang / Uluwatu – again another favourite of mine and is mainly for surfers / beach lovers and again families wanting to coastal vibes to relax. With stunning beaches (however loads of stairs need to be navigated to access them not for those who are elderly, unfit or may have special needs). There are a couple of boutiques and great coffee spots and cafes however no markets, nightclubs, large shopping malls etc.

Ubud – remains a craft and yoga hub for those seeking beautiful scenery and a retreat perhaps. Ubud has some of the best markets on the Island for shopping and a range of boutiques and Tegallalang rice fields are a must for craft shopping and viewing. There is a huge variety of dining options as well.

Lembongan- is incredibly laid back and mainly for surfers, divers and snorkelers with a great variety of accomodation, yet no shopping or nightlife at all.

Gili’s – are stunning and for those who love to dive and snorkel and also those that love to party hard.

I haven’t been to Bedugal, Lovina or Amed as I get super car sick so can’t really comment until one day when I travel around the entire island to find new discoveries and will report back. I hope that helps a little xxx

Rob Peetoom, Hair Spa, Seminyak, Bali.

I am a little bit obsessed with this little piece of Bali Pampering heaven at the moment. The Rob Peetoom Hair Spa Bali is located in North Seminyak next door to Barbacoa, and near Metis, Sardine and Lantern Bali if you want to grab something to eat or drink after your dreamy hair treatment. The salon is like a floating pontoon and is surrounded by ponds and the back treatment area overlooks the most beautiful rice paddies. I had the best half hour hair and scalp Ritual (treatment), with Kerastase products and a good strong yet relaxing head and shoulder massage. I have also had my regrowth done and I was really happy with it. They have a range of treatments and both local and international stylists. Please do yourself a favour and book yourself in to check it out for yourself. http://www.robpeetoomhairspabali.com/en

Centra Taum, Seminyak

So once again after some late night scrolling through Instagram, I came across this little gem which was just perfect for what I was after. I read mostly positive reviews across several pages and asked a few of you for your opinions which were again mostly positive, so booked a little three night getaway for a friends 40th. Its weird how spookily the internet knows what I have been looking up as I was sent an email offer via Booking.com too good to be true, for the Pool View Room, I had been umming and arhhhhing about, for just $63 per a night, Boom !!! Booked that immediately and started to get worried about some comments of itchiness and lumpy beds as my stay loomed near.
So Centra Taum is about 3 years old I believe ( I could of just made that up) and is in the heart of all the best shopping and dining out options Bali has to offer. Its on the little road which tucks in behind Ultimo and cuts through to Jl Petitenget near Villa Lumbung if anyone knows the area and I think the road is called Jl Beraban. With a modest little entrance and reception area I was greeted with those warm friendly smiles and terribly sweet orange welcome drinks we all kind of love ( not really but hey we have just arrived in Bali) and was mesmorised by the beauty of the lovely pool below. I was ushered to my room and should of taken a little more notice of the route as it was slighly tricky finding my way back after a few afternoon and dinner vinos.
The room its self was lovely and spacious, bed and linen very clean and incredibly comfy, the air con worked and the bathroom as clean as possible ( some staining in the stone and non slip surfaces which is common in Bali, but not anything I would be bothered with) .

I didnt eat at the hotel as there are so many other fantastic options around the island, however the restaurant is poolside and looked lovely. The pool gets the mid morning through until mid afternoon sun so was lovely for baking or swimming, I really should of made more use of this during my stay.

As with many hotels in Bali it does need a little maintenance however if its just a base and beautiful pool you are wanting then this may just be the spot for you. I would definately go back and perhaps the pool view rooms on level 1 might be my pick or I think perhaps Room 101 is a 3 bedroom Apartment which may be perfect for families or groups travelling as it is opens on directly to the pool.

Lulu Yasmine ~ My Favorite boutique.

For several years now, my favourite go to boutique for any special occasion items has been Lulu Yasmine. It must be the mix of beautiful boho chic and femininity that draws me in, matched with the quality of the clothing with the softest and most delicate silks and lace. Since the development has marched north so has Lulu Yasmin now with her elegant Flagship Store located just near the entrance of the W Retreat on Jl Petitegnet.. I have been addicted to Pinterest and found myself repeatedly pinning delicate lace tops and wanting them to match with worn cut of denims, as I wondered in due to being notoriously early for my massage next door at Amo spa, I ohhhhh and ahhhhhed as this stunning silk top caught my, eye. I tried it on and even with no make up and the sweatiest helmet hair, I instantly felt beautiful and said this is it the top I have been longing for. Armed still with some birthday money to spend, I almost skipped with glee to my next appointment. Like Lulu Yasmin on Facebook and see her new website. http://www.luluyasmine.com/
